Introduction: Book Reviews

What? Book reviews? In a gaming site? Well of course! The stereotype of gamer as an illiterate nerd is completely inaccurate. Not only gamers read books, but they also write books. And about video games!

There are many great books written on video games. This is a new feature which will deal with them in depth. I seek to introduce great books you will enjoy. They may be on the video game criticism, or on a particular gamer, or maybe a great history, but they all have one thing in common: they’re great, and you will enjoy reading them!

Sometimes I may wander off and review a book which is not directly about a game, but it is related to a video game in a way which I think a gamer will find interesting.

I am not planning to review any novelizations as they are mostly rubbish.

So from next week onwards, every Tuesday, (if I’m not hindered by finals and proposals and such), I will discuss a book with you. I will introduce the author(s) if necessary, and I will tell you why I have loved reading the book.

Of course, if you know of any great book you think I need to review? Please Email me their title:

We will begin next week with the great book Unit Operations: An Approach to Video Game Criticism written by Professor Ian Bogost.
